Professional Synopsis |

Commenced employment in 1973 with specialist
heating and ventilation contractor, Alfred Grindrod & Co Ltd, as an
indentured technician apprentice working on mechanical services
design, estimating and supervision of various commercial, education,
health and industrial building projects. |
|
Joined Crown House Engineering Ltd in 1980 as a
Project Engineer with responsibility for the installation phase of
pre-designed schemes, including liaison between client, main
contractors, sub-contractors, suppliers and site labour. |
|
In 1982 joined Sheffield City Council, Works
Department, Heating Section as a Technical Officer, promoted to Senior
Officer in 1984, with responsibility for design, procurement and
project management of various schemes for client departments including
schools, nursing homes, high rise housing, museums, swimming pools and
sports facilities. |

In 1987 became self employed working on a contract
basis as a Senior Design Engineer and Project Manager for Edward
Pearce & Associates, Usher & Partners, Crown House Engineering, Henry
Boot Construction Ltd, Preston Lee Chambers, Drake & Scull Ltd and
Building Design Partnership. Responsible for design and project
management on various schemes including a prison, retail, banks,
vehicle distribution depot, car manufacturing plant, hospitals,
colleges, semi-conductor manufacturing plants, military
establishments, pharmacy manufacturing and commercial premises. |

Joined Building Design Partnership in 2000 in a
staff position undertaking the varied role of Senior Design Engineer,
Engineering Team Leader and Project Manager on schemes including PFI
Hospitals at Hexham and John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford, hospitals in
Sheffield, Doncaster, Bradford and Northolt, Leeds College of Music,
Health & Safety Laboratories, Crown Courts, churches and numerous
commercial projects. |

In 2003 appointed as Principal Building Services
Engineer at Mott MacDonald Sheffield, with responsibility for
mechanical services engineering team design and project management
input for Barnsley Schools PFI bid, other local authority schools and
healthcare sector work. |

In 2004 joined JSH Consulting Ltd as a Director
with responsibility for mechanical engineering and project management. |
|
Specialisms include air conditioning and the design
and project management of hospital engineering services and education
establishments. |
